The journey to certification
We celebrate your decision to become an ICEA certified childbirth educator. It is a joy to share this wonderful field with you. The work we do is so important to women, babies, and families. It has been our honor to mentor childbirth educators from the beginning to seasoned professionals. We look forward to mentoring you.
Our mentor program is for educators on the ICEA traditional childbirth educator certification track.
Observe Teaching Series
The program begins by arranging for you to observe a six week childbirth preparation series taught by a certified ICEA childbirth educator.
Evaluated Teaching Series
A six week childbirth preparation series will be arranged by mentor for you to teach, and mentor will evaluate, complete forms, and submit to ICEA according to guidelines. Guidance is given on preparing curriculum and class format.
Proctor Test
Mentor will serve as proctor for the ICEA certification examination.
Enrollment
To enroll in the mentor program please email an introduction detailing your aspirations for work in this field. Space in the program is limited. This program is only in the Greater Sacramento Area. The current program fee is $300. Half the fee is due upon program acceptance, and the remainder before your exam date.
